    Treatment:

    Conventional treatment:

I have been taking anti-histamine medicines, which helps; but, I get rash soon on stopping it. Why?
Antihistamine, as the name suggests, nullifies the effect of histamine, which is released as a result of allergic process. However, antihistamine medication does not control the underlying cause of histamine release. So, you feel better only when you take antihistamine. Read more about it at http://www.urticaria.com/app/antihistamines.asp

Do you mean to say that antihistamines are not useful?
Well, they are very useful during acute attacks. But, they do not cure chronic urticaria, in my experience. They are often addictive.

What is the role of steroids in urticaria?
Steroids are powerful drugs which may be indicated in most severe and life threatening cases of urticaria which may have led to swelling of lips, larynx and respiratory tract. Casual use of steroids is more detrimental.

    Homeopathic treatment:

    What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is an alternative medicine originated in Germany. Please click this for more information. http://www.urticaria.com/app/homoeopathy.asp

Why do you suggest homeopathy treatment for urticaria?
The homeopathic treatment treats chronic urticaria by possibly regulating the immune mechanism. Read more http://www.urticaria.com/app/treatment.asp

What is the strength and limitation of homeopathic treatment?
Homeopathic medicines treat chronic urticaria very effectively without side effects. The strength of homeopathy is in the treatment of chronic, lasting, recurring and resistant cases of urticaria, which one may have for months or years together. The limitation is that homeopathy may not work as fast as antihistamine or steroids.

If I am on the conventional antihistamines or steroids, can I start with homeopathy?
    Yes.

Do I need to stop the conventional medicines if I have to start with homeopathy?
No. Initially, you have to continue both the medicines simultaneously. Once your urticaria improves bu about 25%, you have to reduce the dose of antihistamines slowly; aiming at stopping it completely at one point.

I have been on the conventional treatment (antihistamines) for last ten years. I cannot even stop it for 10 days. Is it really possible to stop it if I start homeopathy?
Yes, it is very much possible.

Are there side effects of homeopathic medicines?
    No. Not at all.

Do they interact with the conventional medicines?
No. Homeopathic medicines can be safely taken with the conventional medicines.

When do I start seeing improvement after starting homeopathy medicine?
Most patients start observing improvement within about six to eight weeks. Those who are on steroids may take time.

If I am on some other medications such as drugs for diabetes, hypertension, etc.; do I have to stop them while on homeopathy?
No. You can continue all other medicines for other diseases if you start with homeopathy. Homeopathy does not adversely interact with the conventional medicines.

What are homeopathic medicines prepared from?
The homeopathic medicines are largely sources from minerals, herbs, chemicals, etc. More information available at http://www.urticaria.com/app/ingredients.asp

How much time does homeopathy take to cure my chronic urticaria?
The length of time depends on the factors such as duration of urticaria, underlying causes, current treatment, etc. You can check curability chances through online assessment test. http://www.urticaria.com/app/curability-register.asp
